PURE builds the mother of all alarmsStar Rating
A good wake-up call is essential to prepare you for the assault course of a working day. What you need, as Premiership managers constantly say, is options, and Pure’s new alarm clock has them in spades.
The Chronos CD is a new skyscraper version of its triangular predecessor and provides a wealth of sleep-piercing noises. Like its brother, it has a DAB radio, while it’s new towering structure also houses a CD player.
With four independent alarms, you could go crazy and mix up your weekday wake-up calls, going for a bit of DAB BBC Radio 3 on Monday, setting up TalkSport on the day after, throwing in your Flaming Lips album on Wednesday and then finishing off the week with a classic tone alarm. Madness.
As if that’s not enough, there’s also an audio input for your iPod, while the CD player will play discs you’ve loaded with MP3s and WMAs.
Despite all this multi-format tomfoolery, the Chronos CD is only £20 more than its sibling. The only downside is that you may need to reinforce your bedside table’s legs with steel, but it’ll be worth it. CD-R, CD-RW audio media or MP3/WMA discs, it boasts four independent alarms so should be enough to get you out of bed come Boxing Day.
